TECC is the national standard for medical care provided in Active Shooter and Hostile events, but the life-saving skills can be utilized in nearly any incident involving traumatic injuries. This course was developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) for Medical Providers (EMS), though anyone who wants to learn life-saving skills can attend. It is being taught by ARC’s veteran instructors who all have extensive experience operating as medics in tactical/combat, hostile and austere environments around the world. Students will be trained in topics such as:

  • The 3 phases of casualty care used during tactical operations.

  • Triage and the M.A.R.C.H. assessment & treatment algorithm.

  • Skills needed to manage life-threatening bleeding and other traumatic injuries.

  • Advanced interventions such as Needle Decompressions, Surgical Cricothyroidotomy, IV/IO access and medication administration.

  • Tactical considerations in moving personnel and patients.

  • Establishing Casualty Collection Points (CCP), and casualty evacuation.

The course culminates with simulated active shooter scenarios during a field training exercise. Approved for 16 hours of CAPCE continuing education.
